The Game also thanked the people behind the album while making it clear he sees the project as a major career reset, featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and others.

“Everybody that worked on album, I love & appreciate you in a major way.. we bout to reset this shit one time for the one time !!! & my fans who’ve been more than patient with me while trying to bring yall this heat.. I’m super down for yall. We here now.. let’s get it !!!!”

That original timetable called for January 18, 2025, exactly twenty years after The Documentary changed his career almost overnight. AllHipHop reported the album debuted at No. 1 with 587,000 copies sold during its opening week.

Guests included 50 Cent, Eminem, Nate Dogg, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige and Busta Rhymes across the January 18, 2005 release.

Production also came from Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Timbaland, Just Blaze and Scott Storch.

Ten years later, The Game returned with The Documentary 2 on October 9, 2015, reviving the franchise for a second run.

That sequel debuted at No. 2 with 95,000 album-equivalent units, while The Documentary 2.5 arrived October 16 with 48,000 units.

Dr. Dre, Drake, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Kanye West and Future were among the guests across The Documentary 2.

While discussing Dre’s role with AllHipHop before that release, The Game said, “When you got somebody on Dre’s level with that caliber of producer and homie it just makes it easier at the end of the day.”

His post credits @thegoat and @tbhits as executive producers, Mike & Keys and TrayfortheStars as co-executive producers and TreyVMadeMeDoIt for mixing and mastering.

Jonathan Mannion created The Documentary III cover with assistance from Lowrider Magazine, giving the new chapter another direct visual link to Hip-Hop history.
