Rick Ross took the field at Great American Ball Park and revealed something nobody expected from the Hip-Hop heavyweight.
The 50-year-old rap legend wasn’t just there to celebrate two decades of his groundbreaking debut album Port of Miami.
He was there to live out a childhood fantasy that’s been buried under two decades of chart dominance and business empire building.
“I always dreamed of being an outfielder and catching me a hit going deep,” Ross said while walking through the outfield after his performance. “I guess this is my outfielder situation, baby.”
The moment captured something real about the man behind the BOAT nickname.
For all the private jets, business success, hit albums, and the orchestral tours marking the 20th anniversary of Port of Miami, what stuck with him was the simple dream of playing ball.
The Cincinnati Reds gave him the stage on August 14, and when he took the microphone, he reflected on the weight of the moment.
“Not many people get to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album at one of the greatest franchises in history,” he said. “Still a dream for a boss.”
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the post-game concert was part of the Ohio Lottery Concert Series, giving fans an unexpected bonus after the Reds-Marlins matchup.
The “Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Tour” continues nationwide with the Renaissance Orchestra, bringing orchestral arrangements to his classic catalog.
