Kid Cudi is moving at lightning speed behind the camera, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
The 2x Grammy winner just announced he’s got two feature films locked in for 2027, and both are directed by him.
His first project, “Doe,” marks his feature directorial debut, while his sophomore effort is a horror-thriller that’s already got him hyped beyond belief.
On Saturday, Cudi took to X to break down what’s happening next.
“I shoot my next film in a few weeks and I’m so fuckin hyped,” he wrote. “Sometimes I cant believe this is all happening. Officially a filmmaker. Get ready. Next year we introduce em to writer/director Cud.”
The energy was real, and the commitment was clear. He’s not just acting anymore. He’s building an entire creative empire behind the lens.
“Doe” is a really intense drama that follows 24 hours in the life of an addict who’s living on the streets in LA.
Production kicked off in Los Angeles back in April, with Cudi starring alongside Mark Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott, and Brandon Perea.
He’s also recording original songs for the film, which means this project is getting the full Cudi treatment across every creative lane.
As for his second feature, Cudi revealed the full vision.
“And my next film is a horror/thriller. Lot of laughs, but its fuckin gnarly. I am a firm believer in mixing horror with comedy. So I incorporated that into it.”
It’s exactly what you’d expect from someone who’s spent years studying how to blend genres and push creative boundaries.
Both films are scheduled to premiere next year, with his second feature hitting late summer 2027.
His journey to the director’s chair didn’t happen overnight.
Cudi started acting back in 2010 when he appeared in HBO’s “How to Make It in America,” then landed his feature film debut in “Need for Speed” (2014).
Over the years, he built a strong reputation in the acting world, earning critical acclaim for his role in Ti West’s horror film “X” (2022). That experience with genre filmmaking clearly influenced his directorial choices.
Kid Cudi’s directorial debut represents a major shift in his career trajectory, moving from performer to storyteller.
This comes after Cudi wrapped his headlining Rebel Ragers Tour in June, which means he’s been running on pure creative momentum all year.
