Famous Dex landed back in legal trouble this week, and it’s threatening to derail everything he’s worked toward since getting clean.
The Chicago rapper was booked in a Vegas jail on a domestic battery charge after being taken into custody on Sunday, marking another chapter in a pattern that’s haunted his career for years.
This arrest comes at the worst possible time for someone trying to rebuild.
Back in 2021, Dex faced 19 separate charges stemming from three different incidents, including domestic violence allegations and gun possession after cops found a loaded weapon during a traffic stop.
Two of those violent incidents involved his ex-girlfriends, and the legal system didn’t go easy on him. He ended up serving 364 days behind bars starting in September 2021, a sentence that could’ve ended everything.
But Dex actually tried to turn it around. After his release, he checked into rehab to address his opiate addiction, and by April 2023, he was telling people he’d hit 11 months sober.
That’s real progress, and he was using that momentum to work on new music with Rich The Kid and Jay Critch on the Rich Forever 5 project.
The timing of this arrest is brutal because he had an album called Dexter’s Laboratory 2 scheduled to drop on October 15, 2026.
That’s less than two months away, and now he’s sitting in custody facing charges that could completely derail his comeback momentum.
His team hasn’t responded yet, but the silence speaks volumes about how serious this situation is.
