Chief Keef was supposed to launch his first major tour in two years with a hometown victory lap in Chicago, but racism at the airport turned his September 12 kickoff into a postponement.
The South Side rapper’s opening night at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island got canceled just 30 minutes before showtime, leaving thousands of fans who’d traveled from across the country standing outside with sold-out tickets and no show.
The official story from his PR team blamed travel delays and a late arrival that would’ve violated venue curfew.
But Chief Keef wasn’t having that narrative. On Instagram the next morning, he revealed what really happened.
“It was a pilot who got very racist at the clear port,” he wrote. “And the pilot decided to cancel my plane, which had us scattering to find new jets. And by the time we found an option it would be too late to land and do a full show.
“No i aint happy, yes i am upset. I know all of you anticipated this just like me. For days and weeks and a few months. Thanks to all who came to see me today I really love all of yall, who bought a ticket to come see me. And im sincerely sorry that this happened trust me,” Chief Keef said.
The Chief Keef Live 2026 tour is a 19-date nationwide outing from September through October.
He’s hitting Minneapolis, Detroit, Indianapolis, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Pittsburgh, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and wrapping up in Las Vegas on October 29.
The September 23 makeup show will be Chief Keef’s chance to finally deliver the homecoming performance that got derailed by racism at the airport.
