Sidney Starr faced a courtroom in Georgia where her defense team argued her “good nature” should secure her release, but the judge and the alleged victim’s family had other ideas.
The transsexual “Love & Hip Hop” alum was denied bond after being charged with sodomy, sexual battery against a child under 16, and aggravated child molestation.
The state had already recommended she remain locked up without the possibility of bail, and the court agreed.
During the hearing, the alleged 13-year-old victim’s mother delivered emotional testimony that painted a picture of a family torn apart.
She told the judge her son now requires intensive therapy to process what happened to him.
“At this age, when he should feel safe, innocent, and protected, he is now forced to cope with trauma that no child should have to ever endure,” she said.
The mother continued, explaining how the family’s sense of security had been shattered by the allegations.
The defense strategy centered on Starr’s personal history and community ties. Her legal team emphasized that she has no prior criminal record and maintains strong connections to Georgia, making her unlikely to flee.
They painted a picture of someone with deep roots in the community who posed no flight risk. But the judge wasn’t swayed by these arguments.
An investigator testified about the specifics of what Starr allegedly told detectives.
According to the testimony, Starr admitted to engaging in sexual contact with someone she referred to as “Larry.”
The investigator explained that this person is a minor who later left the room and was subsequently identified as Starr. Starr’s account to police was that the male entered an elevator with her at the Embassy Suites Hotel and came to her room after claiming he was 18 years old.
Despite acknowledging that Starr has no prior criminal history, the judge ultimately sided with the prosecution and the victim’s family.
The decision means Starr will remain in custody as her case moves forward through the Georgia court system.
